dev log: strange timez
yo... so its been a week and heres what i have to say......
i had to switch engines..... yeah it is kinda scary since i have like 2 weeks left for this project
why:
well its actually really simple, i realized (definitely a little soon) that i was spending more time learning my engine than actually making my game. which meant that if i were to spend any longer like a week or so, i wouldve had a full meltdown. so ive made the difficult choice for my sanity, my game, and most importantly ... my grade. to switch to an engine i actually have experience in, and is real easy to learn. which is gdevelop.
so the plan?: right now im pretty rusty with this engine so ill need just a bit of time to get back into it, but even without i've already made some progress with the new game. the enemy collides with and pushes back the player. which is a simulation of how it is to take damage. they stop at the placehold lights. it twice the amount of progress ive made in the past 7 days in 5 hours. the plan is for me to contiune to relearn gdevelop and apply that knowledge to messiah. right now the enemys arent actually supposed to just BOLT to you. they should be patrol around first. which i belive takes a state machine to work. then the animations (which with piskel i can do), then playtesting.
so uh yeah thats that for this week, learning and making. ill upload the new build
